Coastal, collected scottsdale vacation rental!

This was one of my favorite vacation rentals to design. I love the color palette of blues, grays, whites. There are so many great natural textures from the wood and rattan. The color palette lends itself to a coastal feel, but we layered in pieces that feel collected and eclectic. There is a level of character that is in this home. This home is one of our most popular vacation rentals and for good reason. It’s got a level of coziness to it, but it feels sophisticated at the same time. When I was planning my first retreat, The Blissful Experience, I knew that this was the house that I wanted to host in. Let me show you why!

The kitchen

The kitchen really set the tone for the whole house. I was really excited to do two tone cabinetry. These RTA cabinets from The Cabinet Spot are full inset shaker and I love the look they have. The dark gray color has warm undertones, which really works well with the cooler tones of the blue gray backsplash tile. It keeps the kitchen from being too cool in tone and the white cabinets and countertops make it feel clean and crisp. These rattan pendants are gorgeous! I love the natural texture that they bring to the space. And to balance out the cool tones of the backsplash, we used a lot of wood in the space as well with the barstools, the open shelves and the trim on the bottom of the range hood. And speaking of the range hood…I LOVE it! We framed out the range hood in vertical shiplap and painted it to match the upper cabinets. We added wood stained Special Walnut by Minwax. I really love the look of a range hood framed out by the open shelves. I think open shelves are a great place to display functional pieces, as well as pretty pieces. We had so much fun styling this kitchen. We used a mixture of white, wood and brass pieces and a few small pops of color that tie in from the living room rug. In fact, let’s move on to the living room, shall we?

The Living Room

The family room is right off of the kitchen and is where most of the gathering would take place. The layout really lended itself to two sofas facing each other, but in order to make sure we had enough seating we added 2 accents chairs, as well as a bench and created a really nice conversation area. We opted to do matching sofas here from Living Spaces. One is a regular sofa and one is a queen sleeper sofa. There is a lot going on the room with the pattern in the rug, chairs and poufs, so I chose to keep the sofas the same instead of choosing two different styles and colors.

The rug is the room was not my first choice. I ordered this one from McGee & Co, but it wasn’t going to come in on time. So I scrambled for an alternative and decided on this one. And I really love how it turned out. It brought in so many beautiful colors – shades of blue, gold, pink and olive. It has a vintage feel to it, which really lends itself to the collected feel we wanted this space to have.

The accent chairs from World Market are some of my all time favorites! First of all, they are so comfortable. But the pattern is a take on a stripe, so they have an updated feel on a traditional pattern. We also opted to use poufs instead of floating the coffee table or using two coffee tables. They would still allow people to have something to to put their feet up on, but they also provide extra seating if needed.

We used some of my favorite accessories to style this space! From the bells to the beads to the leather wrapped rock, everything works together to bring in texture and layers. We also made sure to choose items that are not easily broken since this home is used as a vacation rental. The woven baskets on the wall also add in another layer of natural elements and texture to the space.

The Dining ROOM

In the dining room, we kept things more simple. We don’t use a rug under the table to make things easier to keep clean, especially because it’s a vacation rental. In order to add some visual interest, we found these outdoor cafe chairs. They may be outdoor chairs, but they sure look good inside! And if they are meant to be outside, then they will hold up well and be durable. The chandelier is so, so pretty! It’s capiz and woven rope and it has a really pretty shimmer to it. The art is a digital print that we purchased and then had framed using Framebridge. It ties in the color palette from the living room as well.

The bedrooms

Obviously the more people you can sleep in a vacation home, the better and with 4 bedrooms there are plenty of places to get a good night’s rest. There is one king bedroom with an en suite bathroom, another en suite bedroom with a queen bed, a room with 2 queen beds and a bedroom with a 2 twin over full bunkbeds.

The master bedroom has a really pretty color palette. We used the art from Juniper Print Shop as our jumping off point. You can find those prints here and here. I think the best part of the room though are the cement lamps. They are textural and so pretty!

The second ensuite bedroom has a very soft and soothing color palette that we pulled from this art print, again using Framebridge to frame it. There wasn’t even space to do two nightstands, so we opted to do a floor lamp on one side so that guests could easily access the bathroom.

My favorite part about the queen queen room is the wallpaper. It’s a self adhesive removable wallpaper and although it took me some time to figure out how to hang it, it wasn’t too difficult. Instead of headboards, we chose to do a vertical shiplap wall behind the beds. I really love how it turned out. The color palette of warm gray, white and blue is brings in that coastal feel.

The bunkbed room art from Minted was the jumping off point for the color palette of pink, green and black. We love being able to add mirrors into rooms that don’t have a bathroom in order to provide an extra spot for people to get ready.

These bathroom all feel very spa like to me. I think it’s the colors that we used – white, blue, gray and wood. We mixed and matched using brass and nickel lighting and fixtures. Those metals pair well together because they both have warm undertones.

In the main master bathroom we chose a mid tone gray tile for the shower, which doesn’t feel too dark with the mother of pearl penny tile mosaic and white cabinetry.

The second master bathroom also has gray tile, but it’s a little but lighter and also paired it with penny tile, but this one is a mixture of shades of blues, grays and golds. I really loved the arched mirror over the vanity paired with the brass faucet.

In the shared hall bathroom, we chose to use the darker cabinets for the vanity and kept in light and bright with the tub surround tile. I really love the brass pharmacy mirrors. They have such a great look and they allow for some extra styling too.
