How to Host the Perfect Gathering

We are so close to being done with the Spring 2021 One Room Challenge in Partnership with Better Homes & Garden!? It's Week 7 and that means we are down to final touches and realizing what dream items aren't actually going to happen in time. Haha! You up on what has been going on over the last few weeks in this kids' playroom makeover here.  I can't wait until next weeks' reveal for the One Room Challenge.

How it's going

So good actually! I feel like things are really starting to come together and now that the furniture is all in and the rug has come in, I can really start to see how this room could turn out.

I have been working pretty non-stop on this room over the last couple of days and I am really excited about how this room is looking. This room might have looked a little less chaotic last week, but now I have frames, art prints, accessories and pillows all ready to be styled.

The back up rug ended up coming in and honestly, I really love it. It's soft and pretty and feels a little more modern and playful than my original choice. I also ended up ordering the cuddler chair from Living Spaces and it was delivered on Monday. It's amazing! I already told my kids that I call dibs on it when I hang out in that room. It can fit 2 adults comfortably and swivels. It's a chair that I can see staying with us for a while.

what we have accomplished

Here is the checklist that I have been working off of over this challenge the last few weeks. Each week I love to check off what I have accomplished and fill you in on what has been going on with each checklist item.

  1. A brand new color palette
  2. Paring down and donating
  3. Add desks
  4. Get a new rug - The backup rug came in and it's a good one! I really love it...maybe even more than my original option.
  5. Organization! - I was able to find some really cute lidded baskets for the legos and I picked up baskets that fit perfectly in the media cabinet. Everything feels neat and organized.
  6. Reorient the room.
  7. Add drapery rods and panels - I decided against it. The angles and how close together the windows are make it nearly impossible and I am fine to leave them out.
  8. Add art. - All of the prints are here and I bought all of the frames. I decided on a corner gallery wall and I think it will be unique and also look really great.
  9. Add an accent wall - I decided against it. It came down to time and effort and I don't have the motivation to make it happen right now. Plus, I don't think it's needed. It looks fine with out.
  10. Add other new furniture. - The chair came in and it's SO GOOD!

Inspiration

I really wanted to add a couple of hanging blankets. It's visually pretty and it's also functional. I found some really pretty linen blankets at local home decor store, where I also picked up some other really good accessories. I moved the tree between the chair and the sofa and now I have an empty corner that I think would be the perfect place for the blankets.

Next week is the final reveal and I cannot wait for my family and kids to be able to use it and enjoy it and I cannot wait to share this space with you!

In the meantime, make sure you check out the featured designers and other fellow guest designers. There are some really great projects going on! I am so thankful to be a part of this and to finish up this room over the next few weeks.
